Statement
American born Stephen R. Janton's (b.1959) painting draws on his study of biology and anatomy and is marked by an in depth knowledge of the human form from a long career as a Physical Therapist. His approach to portrait painting is based on his early encouragement and guidance by George A. (Frolic) Weymouth of Chadds Ford Pennsylvania. Mr. Weymouth is an internationally known landscape and portrait artist who founded the Brandywine River Museum which houses a large collection of the Wyeth family paintings.
Janton works on canvas and panel and uses the traditional mediums of oil and egg tempra as well as acrylic. He has exhibited in Florida through the Broward Art Guild and Art Expressions Gallery in Fort Lauderdale. In Asheville, North Carolina, he has exhibited at Merrimon Gallery.
Janton's work also includeds designs for a number of business logos.
